The architecture and construction industry is rapidly evolving, and is in need of intelligent, professional and capable students to bring in new ideas and growth at the workplace. Waterloo architecture engineering students can help the industry bridge the gaps in knowledge, communication, collaboration and project management.
Waterloo is not only number one in Canada for facilitating employer-student connections, it is also one of the top ranked engineering schools worldwide and can connect employers to hardworking and skillful students who are ready to assist organizations thrive.
What's special about Architectural Engineering?
By the end of their degree, these students will have an understanding of how the building goes together from start to finish. This includes:
- Architectural design principals
- The systems in the building (HVAC/R, electrical, mechanical...etc.)
- The materials required and how they behave under different circumstances (like stress, decay, corrosion...etc.)
- The building envelope
- How and when to implement green solutions
- Effective and cost conservative construction
For architects: These students will be future engineers who have an understanding of architectural design and building construction.
For engineers and construction project managers: These students will make incredible project managers in the future because of their 'big picture' understanding of the construction process. They'll understand structural, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering principals as well as architectural design - allowing them to collaborate effectively with all teams.
Our students are hungry to learn and gain experience! To give you more ideas about how a co-op student can help you, below is a list of tasks and types of work they can do for you now.
