William M. Tatham Centre (TC)

The William M. Tatham Centre for Co-operative and Experiential Education (TC) was built in 2003 to support one of the world's largest co-operative education programs.

Thanks to our students and generous donors like William M. Tatham, and the Province of Ontario, this building now supports thousands of students and employers every year. The Tatham Centre is home to Co-operative Education, the Centre for Career Development (CCD) and many more Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE) services for students.

Roads to the University of Waterloo

The University of Waterloo is located in South-Western Ontario, about one hour's drive west of Toronto's Pearson Airport and one hour east of London. Three Ontario highways enter Kitchener-Waterloo:

  • Highway 8 from the south
  • Highway 7 from the east and west
  • Highway 85 from the north

To the south of Kitchener is Ontario's main east-west expressway, Highway 401, which is connected to Kitchener-Waterloo by Highway 8 West. In Kitchener-Waterloo, Highway 7, 8 and 85 are linked by the Conestoga Parkway, a local expressway.

Via Highway 401

  • Exit 401 at Kitchener Highway 8 West (Exit 278), Exit 8 West at 7 East/85 Waterloo (Conestoga Parkway), Exit Conestoga Parkway (85 North) at University Avenue West and drive about 3.2 kilometres.
  • Our main entrance to Waterloo is on University Avenue West, one block west of Phillip Street. Watch for railway tracks and pedestrian overpass. Get into right hand lane and turn right at next set of traffic lights.

Via Grand River Transit (GRT)

The GRT system connects the Tri-Cities: Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo by bus and light rail train.

  • Bus routes 201, 9, 13, 19, 30 and 31 serve the University of Waterloo Station. The new Route 30 Ring Road will serve all existing Ring Road stops, connecting campus buildings to the new station.
  • ION light rail travels between Conestoga station in Waterloo and Fairway station in Kitchener, with a total of 19 stations along the route, including a stop at the University of Waterloo.

Via GO Transit (GO)

GO Transit is the regional public transit service for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.

  • GO bus is a popular option to get around in different cities. If you are landing at Pearson International Airport, you can take GO Bus Route 40 from Pearson Airport Terminal 1 to Square One Terminal. From there, you can take Route 25 or 25 C to the University of Waterloo. 
  • GO train is another option that operates from Toronto Union Station to Kitchener GO. The train can also be taken from other GO stations in the GTA to Kitchener Go. For more information visit GO Transit.
     

Parking

When visiting our campus, please park in *Lot H, just inside the campus entrance off University Avenue West.

  • Lot H opens most weekdays at 7:30 a.m.

  • Designated for our recruiters.
  • Enter at the main university entrance then turn left on Ring Road to Lot H.
  • One minute walk to Tatham Centre.
  • Rate: $10.00 deposit on entry, $2.00 per hour ($10.00 maximum)
  • Punch in the 5 digit code (xxxxx#) that you received via email when you made your interview reservation. The pound key will dispense the ticket.
  • Payment can only be made by American Express, MasterCard or Visa.
  • If you arrive after 4 p.m., no code is required. Follow the prompts on the machine to obtain a ticket.
  • If this lot is full, redirect to Lot C.
  • Accessible parking is available in front of the Tatham Centre if required. Request a permit from Employer Reception. This permit must be displayed in addition to your MTO accessible parking permit.

*Note: Please check your email for a parking code that you received (input the code when you arrive at the gates of parking lot H).

Did you know?

William Tatham (BASc '83) graduated from the University of Waterloo's co-op program and started Janna Systems, a customer-relationship management software system. Ten years after that, he sold the company for $1.76 billion in stocks to Siebel Systems. Tatham has enjoyed enormous success in his professional life and he regularly touts University of Waterloo's co-operative education as the foundation for his achievements.

The William M. Tatham Centre for Co-operative Education and Career Services is named in recognition of his generous University of Waterloo support.
