Permit changes for international co-op students

As of April 1, 2026, international students no longer need a co-op work permit to complete co-op work terms in Canada. Co-op students are eligible to complete co-op work terms provided they have a valid study permit which includes conditions indicating they’re allowed to work on campus, and that they are in full-time studies. Upon request, students can provide a letter from the University to confirm that their co-op work term is a requirement of their academic program.
