This award was established by the Faculty of Science’s Associate Dean of Research in 2021 to recognize outstanding research accomplishments by Science faculty members. Each year, the Science Research Office will award one tenure-track and two tenured faculty members based on their research accomplishments and excellence in the previous two or five years for the tenure-track and tenured faculty members respectively.

Professor Anna Klinkova from the Department of Chemistry has been selected for this year’s tenure-track award. She focuses her research on developing catalytic materials and chemical reactions for sustainability applications, including electrochemical conversion of carbon dioxide to useful chemicals, treatment and upgrading of nitrogenous waste, and electrosynthesis of renewable fuels. Working at the nexus of nanoscience, catalysis and electrochemistry, Klinkova aims to advance technologies for treating and upgrading carbon and nitrogen emissions thereby facilitating net zero transition.

"I am honoured to receive this award, which will support my group’s work on rational chemistry design for flue-to-fuel conversion and hydrogen storage and utilization."
