Congratulations to WIN member Marina Meilă (Faculty of Mathematics) on being awarded a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Reliable Structure Discovery.
This prestigious recognition, supported by $1.4 million in funding along with an additional $100,000 from the John R. Evans Leaders Fund, highlights her leadership in advancing reliable and interpretable machine learning. Her research focuses on developing rigorous methods to identify, validate, and interpret complex patterns in data, helping ensure that scientific discoveries derived from machine learning are accurate and trustworthy.
By improving the transparency and reliability of data-driven insights, her work will play a critical role in accelerating scientific discovery across disciplines and strengthening confidence in emerging technologies.
