In consultation with designers and Plant Operations, the Library Renovation Team has reviewed a number of plans, designs, and furniture options for student spaces in Davis. This was made possible by funds given by the Office of the Provost to update student furniture in the Library.
We asked for student feedback about the space in Davis and how we should prioritize our continuing updates. Students told us that they wanted:
• New study carrels, free of graffiti
• More comfortable, height adjustable chairs
• Good lighting and power outlets in the carrels
The final design includes replacing the light wood carrels in the center of the main floor of the Library with new carrels, replacing the older chairs on the main floor, providing furniture that is better suited to the needs of our campus partners, and providing more variety in quiet/silent furniture that fosters individual work.
A large area of the Library will be unavailable during removal and installation.
Furniture replacement is expected to occur between February 13 to 28, 2019. We apologise for any disruption this may cause.
