Fourth year management engineering students Stefanno Da Silva, Shivam Sharma, Tara Tsang, and Julie Yu placed third at the 2018 Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC) in the Innovative Design category. This year OEC was held at the University of Ottawa from January 26 - 28. Their project is to develop a group trip planning application and is supervised by Professor Stan Dimitrov.

Management Sciences professor Sibel Alumur Alev was recently awarded the Charles ReVelle Rising Star award at the 2017 INFORMS annual meeting in Houston, Texas.

The prestigious Rising Star award is awarded every two years to a person "who has made significant contribution to location analysis research and displays the potential to continue to do so."  Professor Alumur Alev was recognized for her research excellence in hub network design, reverse logistics, and supply chain network design.

On October 3, 2017, five 1979 graduates of the Management Sciences Master's program - Patrick Abbott, Kent Hippolyte, Harald Mayer, Jorge Medina, and Stuart Stark -  visited the department and met with current professors as well as graduate and undergraduate students.

The five alumni learned about new department programs and offerings  and shared experiences from their long and distinguished international careers in the United States, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean.
