The Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology has announced the 8 winners of their SEED Funding Grant. The Centre’s mandate is to healthy, active partnerships between centre researchers and corporate members through collaborative projects, mutual interest building, and networking events.

The University of Waterloo is partnering Tsinghua University in Beijing, China on a research collaboration centre that will advance science in the areas of nanotechnology, energy, and pollution control.

The centre—known as Tsinghua University – University of Waterloo Joint Research Centre for Micro/Nano Energy & Environment Technology—officially opened on March 29.

Mary Wells wins Engineers Canada award for encouraging young women to consider careers in engineering.

Waterloo Engineering’s Associate Dean of Outreach has received a national award from Engineers Canada for expanding outreach activities that encourage young women to consider a career in engineering.

The next big innovation to hit the marketplace could be among the Waterloo student projects on display at the annual Capstone Design symposia beginning March 16. 

Senior-year engineering students at Waterloo will exhibit projects ranging from a technology that reduces agricultural water waste through intelligent irrigation systems to a device that may help people with Parkinson`s disease avoid falls.

2016 Canadian Engineering Competition - Compétition Canadienne D'ingénierie

The 2016 Canadian Engineering Competition took place at McGill University on March 3^rd-6^th.

Carolyn Hansson is named as a new Member of the Order of Canada for her contributions as a materials engineer whose efforts have reduced corrosion and improved the performance of reinforced concrete structures.

Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering's very own graduate student, Elahe Jabari, has been chosen as one of the top ten University of Waterloo finalists for the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition.

We encourage everyone to cheer on Elahe during the final competition which will be held on Thursday, April 2, from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. in the Humanities Theatre, Hagey Hall.
