The Centre for Effective Practice (CEP) is one of the largest independent healthcare behaviour-change partners in Canada. CEP’s clinical tools and Academic Detailing Service support primary care providers in closing the gap between evidence and practice. Waterloo Pharmacy alums have been involved with CEP since 2015, providing academic detailing services across Ontario.

Updated COVID-19 boosters are available this fall to help protect against severe COVID-19 infections. Each person is affected differently by the virus, from a high fever to aching muscles and a sore throat. Influenza, the flu, is an infection caused by a virus. Symptoms range from mild to severe, affecting each person differently, from a high fever to aching muscles and a sore throat. By getting vaccinated, you significantly reduce your risk of contracting the flu and help limit the spread of the virus within the community.

On September 22, 2023, Waterloo Pharmacy hosted their annual alumni reunion event, CE Saturday in the morning and a Women in Pharmacy leadership (WIPL) networking lunch and panel session in the afternoon.

On Friday October 20, 2023, Waterloo Pharmacy celebrated the class of 2023 at an in-person convocation reception after the main campus Faulty of Science convocation.

Pharmacy researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students from across Ontario gathered at the University of Toronto on October 11 to share new and emerging research and celebrate a key milestone. Professor Waite is also a co-founding executive member of OPEN and has provided leadership for the initiative as part of the OPEN Executive group.

Since January 2023, pharmacists across Ontario have been prescribing medications for 13 minor ailments. Nardine Nakhla, pharmacist and professor at the University of Waterloo, was a member of the advisory group that drafted regulations enabling this expansion in scope. Nakhla provides an update on the changing minor ailments landscape in Ontario.

The University of Waterloo and Centre for Family Medicine - Family Health Team residency program graduates primary care pharmacists who provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care for our growing communities. The program has been awarded full accreditation by the Canadian Pharmacy Residency Board.
