An award established in memory of Dr. Donald M’Timkulu, a former Instructor and Acting Principal of the College (1971-74).
The Donald and Doris M’Timkulu Award reflects the commitment of both the late Dr. Donald M’Timkulu, a former instructor and acting Principal of Renison University College, and Doris M’Timkulu, friend and former Board member of Renison University College, to intercultural understanding and respect for human dignity. The award is offered to Social Development Studies (SDS) or Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students, in good academic standing, for an intercultural learning experience within Canada or abroad, as an integral part of their studies.
This award will be given to a full-time student registered at Renison University College, who can demonstrate commitment to voluntary service in an international or multicultural context or is participating in an international learning experience or student exchange program and has a minimum overall grade point average of 75% or above.
First consideration will be given to a student who participates in an international service-learning opportunity approved by Renison.
To be eligible for one of this award, a student must:
- be a registered, full-time student at Renison University College
- have a minimum grade point average of 75% or above
- service in an international or multicultural context or is participating in an international learning experience or student exchange program
- have completed five term courses at the time of application
- be enrolled in at least two Renison courses for the term the award is being offered
