What is a strategic plan?
A strategic plan sets the direction and identifies goals for everyone at Renison University College. As a strategic document, the strategic plan guides Renison’s mission and how the Renison community learns, works, and lives together.
Why is Renison engaging the community about the strategic plan at this time?
The current strategic plan was first adopted in 2019. It was a four-year plan that will reach its end in 2024.
In addition, there have been some major changes that have affected students, staff, and faculty since that time, especially the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic continues to have a considerable impact on our community. This new reality must be considered and reflected in the strategic plan.
When can we expect the launch of the new strategic plan?
The new strategic plan will be launched in 2024 after approval from the Board of Directors.
What has been accomplished from the current strategic plan?
The current strategic plan, which includes the mission, leadership statement, and goals, is included on Renison’s website. We have been tracking the implementation of each goal and have identified whether they are completed, in progress, are a future initiative, or need to be put on hold.
Who can provide input into the new strategic plan?
Everyone in the Renison community, including students, alumni, staff, faculty, stakeholders, and partners, is invited to participate in the process. We want to hear about your needs and priorities for an inclusive community, excellence in teaching, and how we can contribute positively in a diverse and complex world.
How is input being gathered?
Everyone in the Renison community will be able to share their input in two ways:
- Through an online survey
- Through live virtual and in-person engagements
Will all my ideas be included in the strategic plan?
We want to hear from you and have set up this process to receive as much input as possible. In a community as diverse as Renison’s, we will hear a multitude of perspectives. This is inevitable in any collaborative and participatory planning process. This means we will review and incorporate the information collected through the consultation process according to the guiding principles for the development of the strategic plan.
While all ideas will be heard and considered, not everything will make it into the strategic plan.
Who will approve the new strategic plan?
The Board of Directors will be presented with the ideas and trends that were observed during the engagement process. The Board of Directors will ultimately approve the new strategic plan.
