Welcome to the Spring 2023 International Study Course trip! We're thrilled to have you join our incredible class as we embark on an exciting adventure to Vietnam. Our class is divided into three teams: corporate relations, meals and logistics, and marketing and culture. We're part of the marketing and culture team, and we can't wait to share this journey with you!

As a team, we have a wide range of responsibilities, such as creating engaging social media content, planning weekend excursions, diving deep into Vietnamese culture and customs, and — most importantly — taking you along for the ride through entertaining updates on social media!

When it comes to content creation, we have some exciting plans. Expect Instagram stories, takeovers, and more. Once the trip is over, we'll provide you with insightful reflections and detailed summaries of our experience.

To make the most of our time in Vietnam, our team is dedicated to researching captivating attractions that hold cultural significance. This way, we'll have a well-planned itinerary and plenty of options to explore during our free time. Get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

Let us introduce our team:

My name is Michelle and I am a second-year Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) student. I love to travel and I’m super excited to visit Vietnam, as I’ve never been there before! I’m looking forward to exploring the major cities and eating tons of good food! Here’s a picture of me visiting the iconic Central Perk Coffee Shop at the Friends experience exhibit in Toronto last summer. :)

Hi everyone! My name is Alan Mak, and I am in my third year of AFM. I am incredibly excited to be going to Vietnam — I’m particularly looking forward to experiencing Vietnamese culture and hearing from business professionals in Southeast Asia. Here’s a picture of me during a visit to the Google office in Singapore, which was part of the previous study trip!

We are so excited for our upcoming trip to Vietnam. The possibilities for unique experiences are endless, from exploring the Hanoi Museum and its vast collection of over 50,000 artifacts, to visiting fascinating historical sites like the Cu Chi Tunnels and the serene Giac Lam Buddhist Temple.

This journey offers us the chance to broaden our perspectives and embrace new concepts. It's an opportunity to enhance our communication skills, unleash our creativity, and engage in introspection to discover our own strengths and weaknesses. Our primary objective is to immerse ourselves in Vietnamese culture and gain valuable insights into the contrasting business practices between Asia and North America. To achieve this, we will be meeting with various industry professionals in Vietnam, learning about the importance of professionalism and respect in Vietnamese culture.

As ambassadors of the School of Accounting and Finance and the University of Waterloo, we will diligently research and share Vietnamese customs and cultural etiquette to ensure that we leave a positive and lasting impression.

If you have any inquiries regarding our team, our purpose, or the course itself, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are eagerly anticipating the unfolding of our student-led narrative. Stay tuned for more captivating blog posts from us and our fellow teams!
