As the Class of 2026 gathers for Spring Convocation, the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) is proud to recognize Mahmoud Halloum (BAFM '26) as this year's SAF Valedictorian.

A Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) graduate with specializations in Business Analytics and Financial Markets, Halloum used every year at Waterloo to test-drive something new. From case competitions and the Student Venture Fund to mentoring incoming students and organizing campus events, he approached his time at SAF the same way he approached co-op: with curiosity about what he might discover next.

Now a Valuations Analyst at Deloitte and building a startup on the side, Halloum is honoured to represent the Class of 2026.

The coolest thing about AFM is how co-op let me test-drive a lot of different paths, which really helped me figure out what I truly want to do.
