The School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) is delighted to congratulate Patricia O’Malley (LLD ’16) on her appointment to the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.
O’Malley received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Waterloo in 2016 in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the Canadian accounting profession. A globally respected leader in financial reporting, she played a pivotal role in the development and international adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards, strengthening transparency, consistency, and confidence in financial reporting worldwide.
Reflecting on the honour, she told Stratford Today, “It’s the highest thing I could ever have achieved.”
O’Malley continues to serve the University as a community-at-large member of the Board of Governors, where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.
We extend our warmest congratulations to O’Malley on this well-deserved national honour.
