Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) degree requirements

As an AFM student, in your first-year, you'll complete 2 study terms, taking 5 courses each term. Your required courses for Year 1 will be scheduled for you. Prior to beginning your studies in September, admitted Year 1 students can view their class schedules on QUEST at the end of July.

AFM students have a total of 13 electives throughout your 4 years of the undergraduate program. Most of these electives are available in Years 3 and 4, after you've built a foundation in accounting, finance, and business and explored 2 co-op work terms. Your in and out of classroom experiences in Years 1 and 2 will guide you in customizing your 3rd and 4th years to create your own unique career pathway.

With your 13 electives, you must choose one (or more) Career Interest Specializations:

Notes:

  • You will automatically be enrolled in your 10 required first year courses as listed above
  • AFM 111 or BET100, AFM 112, AFM 132, AFM 191, and ECON 101 must be completed in your 1A term
    • *Students who choose to pursue courses with more focus on analytics must take CS 115 or CS 135 instead of ECON 101 in 1A (ECON 101 is taken in 2A instead)
    • **Students who pass CS 115 or CS 135 can choose to take AFM 127 in place of AFM 121 to continue pursuing courses with more focus on analytics.
