Science alumni, we invite you to join your classmates for the annual Waterloo Science Alumni Ski Days! This year, the Faculties of Science, Arts, Engineering, and Health will come together to join in two days of outdoor fun, with the first day being at Alpine Ski Club and the second day at Osler Bluff Ski Club. So come to ski, snowboard or snowshoe with your fellow alumni and make it a memorable day on the hills to make the most of our beautiful Canadian winter.

Ascot Hall - Home Base at Alpine Ski Club

Our home base for ski day on Thursday is Ascot Hall! This is where you can pick up your lift tickets, mix and mingle with classmates, access facilities, eat snacks or a meal (cash bar available), and store your gear.

The Café will be open all day for you to purchase breakfast, lunch and snacks at your leisure. Lunch seating times will be assigned when you arrive to avoid long lineups. 

Brown Bagging is allowed in the café so feel free to bring your own lunch!

Food options: 

  • The food line in the café will be open all day for you to purchase breakfast, lunch and snacks at your leisure. To avoid long lineups at peak times, lunch seating times from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be assigned when you check-in at the registration table. Cash bar available.
  • Brown bagging is allowed at Alpine Ski Club so feel free to bring your own lunch.
3:30 p.m. Lifts close.
3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Après Ski reception in Ascot Hall where door prizes will be awarded and complimentary snacks will be served. Cash bar available.

Our home base for ski day on Friday is The Orchard Lodge! This is where you can pick up your lift tickets, mix and mingle with classmates, warm up by the wood fireplace, access facilities, eat snacks or a meal (cash bar available), and store your gear.

The Café in the Orchard Lodge will be open all day for you to purchase breakfast, lunch and snacks at your leisure. Lunch seating times will be assigned when you arrive to avoid long lineups. 

Brown Bagging is allowed in The Orchard Lodge so feel free to bring your own lunch.

Ski Lessons: Osler Bluff

Beginner Adult Ski Lesson: Pre-registration required 10 business days before event date.

Rate: $30 for 1 hour, paid by credit card upon booking.

Time: 11 a.m.

Book: email lessons@oslerbluff.com. Cancellations 24 hours before or lesson will be charged. No shows will also be charged.

Meeting place: Development Centre (Bee-Hive)

Private and Group Lesson: Pre-registration required 10 business days prior to event

Rate: $95 per person plus HST: add $45 additional per person up to 4 people

Time: 1 hour lesson at 9:45 a.m. 11:00 a.m.

Equipment Rental

Each guest is responsible for bringing their own equipment or paying for their own rental equipment.

Rental equipment is available to reserve at both ski clubs through Squire John's. Rentals must be booked at least 1 full day before your ski day (i.e., midnight on Tuesday for Thursday skiing), and can be picked up at the Ski Club's rental shop on Ski Day.

  • Choose "Enter group rentals", then select your desired equipment or package of equipment, prices as marked.
  • Ensure you select the correct ski club and date for your selected ski day ticket when ordering your equipment.
  • Please use the group name Waterloo Alumni when prompted.
  • All rental payment, cancellations and questions should be directed to Squire John's.
