WCA-KPL Public Talk: Black Holes and Beyond (Lucy Pothier-Bogoslowski)

Wednesday, April 29, 2026 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)
Black hole orbited by several stars.

Black holes are massive objects from which even light cannot escape -- so how can we "see" them? In this month's KPL astronomy talk, Lucy Pothier-Bogoslowski  will discuss several observational techniques and properties of black holes that allow us to observe them and their impact on their environments from small to large scales.

Lucy Pothier-Bogoslowski is a master's student in the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics combining research of black holes and active galactic nuclei with x-ray astronomy techniques. They love to read sci-fi and fantasy novels, and also minored in literature during their undergrad!
