Quantum Nano Collision Seminar Series: Professor Jonathan Baugh

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) has launched a new seminar series, Quantum Nano Collision (QNC) Seminar Series, to deepen the engagement of the Waterloo researchers who work at the interface of quantum and nanotechnologies. This seminar series will also provide opportunities for senior graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and research associates to present their innovative work along with the faculty members to bring together the excitement around these cutting-edge technologies that would shape our future.

Quantum Matters Seminar Series: Language Models for Quantum Simulation

Roger Melko: Language Models for Quantum Simulation

Abstract: As the frontiers of artificial intelligence advance more rapidly than ever before, generative language models like ChatGPT are poised to unleash vast economic and social transformation. In addition to their remarkable performance on typical language tasks (such as writing undergraduate research papers), language models are being rapidly adopted as powerful ansatze states for quantum many-body systems.

As part of the Water Institute's WaterTalks lecture series, Dr. Jackie MacDonald Gibson, Department Head and Professor, Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering, NC State University, Raleigh, NC, US, will present: Mapping and quantifying health effects of inequities in community water service in North Carolina, USA.

This event is in person in DC 1302 with a networking reception to follow in DC 1301 (The Fishbowl).
