The Department of Chemistry celebrated its graduates with a convocation luncheon on June 19. Faculty, staff, students, and guests gathered to recognize the achievements of this year’s graduating class.
The event acknowledged the diverse accomplishments of the class of 2026 and its contributions to the community in Chemistry, highlighting students who conducted award-winning research, completed co-op placements across industry and academia, and contributed to departmental initiatives and student organizations.
Speeches were delivered by John Corrigan, department chair, and Sonny Lee, associate chair of graduate studies, as well as Laura Ingram and Evgeniy Panzhinskiy, both associate professors in the teaching stream. All four faculty members wished the graduating students well. Dara Gilbert, professor emeritus, attended the convocation ceremony and handed diplomas to students off stage.
The luncheon was a meaningful way to mark the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next, giving graduates the chance to connect with peers and instructors while celebrating the hard work that went into their academic accomplishments as they move into opportunities in graduate studies, professional programs, and industry.
