Alumni awards frequently asked questions

What is the purpose of the award? 

The Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo established alumni awards to recognize and honour outstanding and significant service, contributions and achievements of Science alumni.

Who can be nominated? 

Anyone who holds a University of Waterloo Science graduate and/or undergraduate degree. Current students are ineligible for consideration.

May I nominate more than one person?

Yes! We have lots of fantastic alumni around the world. Nominate as many as you wish.

How will the recipient be chosen? 

The Science Alumni Awards Selection Committee will review all applicants. Award selection will be made by a committee which includes Science faculty members, alumni and an Advancement staff member.

When will the recipient be announced? 

The award alumni recipient(s) will be informed after the selection committee meets during the Fall term. Public announcements will follow after the recipients have been informed.

How is the recipient recognized?

The recipient will be recognized at an awards ceremony, and through University of Waterloo and Faculty of Science communication methods, such as alumni e-newsletters, the Daily Bulletin, social media, and on the University and Faculty of Science alumni websites.
