Mariam fun

Program: Pharmacy

Year: 2

Stream of study: Co-op

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: To be a licensed Pharmacist. Not entirely sure in which area yet but currently I'm interested in Hospital Pharmacy.

How I get involved: I'm involved in a few pharmacy clubs and societies including SOPHS, RXPRN, MHIP, and the Osce Prep Club. I'm also an off campus community marketing exec this term. As well as a Connection Lead with the Student Success Office!

Why I love my program

I love that I get to learn about how to treat various conditions and understand the process of how diseases progress and how to treat patients holistically. I also loved our compounding labs I got to make tablets, lozenges, capsules you name it was alot of fun! We also have alot of great instructors at the school of pharmacy so it's great being able to learn from them and their experiences. We are tight knit group of about 120 people per cohort and we all pretty much take the same classes so it's nice to know everyone in our class in pretty much on the same page!

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose University of Waterloo for a few reasons. One of those reasons is coop something that not all Universities offer. Especially with the pharmacy program I think we are one of the only schools in Canada that offers coop which is really cool because it allows me to explore many different pharmacy workplaces to figure out which area of pharmacy I might be more interested in working in.
