How I get involved: Currently, I'm involved with the Science Society as Co-Vice President Academic for the 2026-2027 term. In this role, I’m responsible for the academic and co-operative education initiatives of the society, as well as related special projects. Prior to this, I was the lead editor for SciSoc's student-run magazine, helping highlight Science students' voices and creativity. I’ve also been involved as a Science Orientation leader, helping welcome incoming Science students to the Faculty and ease their transition to university. My other involvement at Waterloo includes being an executive team member with the UW BobaTime Club, a volunteer teaching assistant and dissector for the School of Anatomy, as well as several co-op positions on campus.
Why I love my program
I love the Honours Biology program because it allows me to explore all the different fields within biology through the wide variety of courses offered. I’ve enjoyed taking courses in microbiology, physiology, molecular biology, zoology, and many other areas, along with courses in chemistry and physics. I love that the program allows you to dive deeper into topics you’re interested in through upper-year courses. The co-op component of my program has been incredibly valuable for applying my knowledge outside of the classroom and gaining work experience.
Why University of Waterloo?
I chose Waterloo for several reasons. The welcoming, supportive, and spirited community at the University of Waterloo and in the Faculty of Science really stood out to me, and I’m so grateful to now call it home. I also felt that the rigorous coursework and outstanding professors would challenge me and prepare me well for professional school. The co-op program was a major factor in my decision as well, as I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to explore potential career paths and gain valuable experience in the workforce.
