Science Ambassador
Katherine

Program: Pharmacy

Year: 1

Stream of study: Co-op

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: Pharmacist

How I get involved: I love getting involved by volunteering and joining different clubs! During my 2 years of Honours Science at UW before pharmacy school, I joined the Science Society (First Year Rep, Creative Director), Chinese Student Association (Director of Internal Affairs), and Concert Band Club. I was also a Science Orientation Leader and Let’s Talk Science Volunteer, and this is my first year as a Science Ambassador. Now that I’m starting pharmacy school, I hope to continue staying involved and join pharmacy initiatives!

Why I love my program

Pharmacy at the University of Waterloo is unique because it’s Canada’s only co-op pharmacy program. The program has small cohorts of 120 people, allowing for close-knit relationships with your peers! In addition, the curriculum and instructors are always adapting to best prepare students to work in the ever-changing pharmacy field.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo for undergrad and pharmacy school because it’s the best fit for me to achieve my goal of becoming a pharmacist! I knew I wanted to pursue pharmacy in high school, which led me to obtain CAP (Conditional Admission to Pharmacy) status at UW. CAP is a unique opportunity for high school students to be pre-admitted to UW’s Doctor of Pharmacy program. I chose the PharmD program at Waterloo because it’s Canada’s only co-op pharmacy program, and you gain invaluable experience working in different fields of pharmacy!
