Program: Biology

Year: 3

Stream of study: Co-op

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: My career goal is medical school and becoming a doctor, with interests in psychiatry and cardiology as potential specialties.

How I get involved: I am actively involved at Waterloo through a variety of clubs and initiatives. I have held executive roles in the UW Hindu Yuva Club, the UW Stem Cell Club, and UW WiSTEM. I've also been involved in SciSoc, volunteer with Science Outreach, and attend multiple other club events to stay engaged with the UW community.

Why I love my program

I love my Biology program because it allows me to explore a wide range of subjects that I find both fascinating! So far, I’ve really enjoyed courses in psychology, microbiology, physiology, genetics, and anatomy. Each course has deepened my curiosity about how biology works and has motivated me to continue exploring different areas within the life sciences. I’m also beginning a Legal Studies minor, which I’m very excited about because it's a fun way to mix things up and explore something outside of science that I'm interested in.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo because the co-op program really stood out to me. It’s an amazing way to gain meaningful experience that will prepare me for my future goals, while also helping me earn money and work toward becoming financially independent. On top of that, Waterloo has such a supportive and inclusive community, which makes it a great place to learn and grow.
