Program: Medicinal Chemistry with a minor in Biochemistry

Year: 2

Stream of study: Co-op

Pronouns: He/Him

Career goal: Pharmaceutical Research

How I get involved: I’m quite involved in Waterloo clubs, having served as a First Year Representative for SciSoc and Chem Club during my first year. I was also a member of UW Quizbowl and am serving as their Treasurer this term. As for athletics, I was on an intramural volleyball team with a group of friends!

Why I love my program

The chemistry professors I have had so far in my degree have been fantastic, making lectures and labs incredibly engaging and drastically improving the learning environment. First year labs were modern and well-equipped and TAs were always ready to help. I have also met many amazing friends in Medicinal Chemistry and other programs who share many courses early on.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo because it was the only school I was interested in to offer Medicinal Chemistry, which seemed like the best pathway to achieving my career goals. I was also drawn to the co-op program and the option to have up to five terms of laboratory work experience. The undergraduate research assignment I do in my 4A and 4B terms was attractive as well.
