Program: Biomedical Sciences

Year: 4

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: Optometrist

How I get involved: I get involved both on campus and in the Waterloo community by volunteering at chemistry lab days, Let’s Talk Science events, and open house days, where I have the opportunity to support peers and prospective students through hands-on learning experiences. In my downtime, I enjoy attending various clubs and societies. I also volunteer for the CNIB which has been very rewarding!

Why I love my program

I love biomedical science because you get to learn a bit of everything and the knowledge you gain provides a strong foundation for future postgraduate studies. This program offers many academic opportunities in exploring vast areas of science which only excites me to keep on learning. I especially enjoy the labs because they enrich what we learn in class with firsthand experience, allowing us to apply our knowledge while developing practical skills.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo because of the opportunities it offers its students. No matter where you begin, there is always an opportunity to grow. When I joined the Waterloo community I wasn’t sure what opportunities my future would hold, all I knew was that I loved science and wanted to be part of a community that would support me, challenge me, and guide me toward my goals. Since then, the university has not only provided me strong foundational knowledge and hands-on opportunities but the ambition to push myself and strive for big goals.
