Program: Biology, French Minor
Year: 2
Stream of study: Co-op
Pronouns: She/Her
Career goal: Something in healthcare!
How I get involved: Besides being a Science Ambassador, I often participate in events held by the UW Biomedical Student Association, Biology Undergraduate Student Association, Pre-Pharmacy club, and more. I love attending these events because it allows me to meet new people who share common interests and passions. I am also an active member of Let’s Talk Science/Parlons Sciences which is a group that presents STEM workshops to schools in the KW region. Outside of the university, I volunteer at the local hospital and public health unit.
Why I love my program
I love my program because I get to learn about how the world around me works. I have always been interested in learning about how the human body functions, which I am currently learning through courses like cell biology and human physiology. I also enjoy the cool hands-on experiences I gain from the various lab courses. My program is flexible in terms of courses as I have many free electives and can choose to explore other interests as well.
Why University of Waterloo?
I chose the University of Waterloo because I liked the welcoming and supportive atmosphere, and I wanted to be a part of this community. When I came to the Open House, I remember all the Science Ambassadors and staff who enthusiastically spoke about all the programs and clubs at UW. I also liked the unique structure of the co-op program here, where I can try different jobs (as opposed to having one long co-op)as it would allow me to explore more career paths and gain diverse experiences.
