How I get involved: I love staying involved on campus! I’m an executive member for UW Gives Blood, where I help organize donation events and encourage students to save lives (no cape required). I also work at the Student Success Office as a Facilitation Coordinator, supporting workshops and programs that help students thrive in and out of the classroom. And of course, I’m a Science Ambassador, which means I get to meet future Warriors and share what I love most about studying Science at Waterloo!
Why I love my program
I love that my program lets me explore the sciences I’m genuinely passionate about, especially Biology and Earth Science. I get to learn everything from how life works at a microscopic level to how the entire planet operates (basically, from cells to seismic waves). What I appreciate most is the flexibility. I’m not forced to take courses that don’t fit me. For example, Chemistry and I… well, we simply do not bond. You could say I don’t have chemistry with Chemistry. This program is perfect for students who love Science but are still figuring out their exact path. It gives you the freedom to explore different fields, pivot when your interests evolve, and discover what excites you without feeling locked into just one direction.
Why University of Waterloo?
When I visited Waterloo for Open House in high school, I immediately felt the welcoming atmosphere and great energy on campus. The students were friendly, encouraging, and always ready to help, something I continue to experience every day. The Faculty of Science offers so many incredible resources, whether you’re figuring out your career path, looking for academic support, or just trying to grow as a person. You can tell the faculty and staff genuinely want you to succeed. Plus, Waterloo has so many amazing opportunities: * Field work and hands-on learning * Becoming a Lab TA * Study abroad options * And honestly, clubs for everything, if you can think of it, there’s probably a club for it (and if not, you can start one!) There are also tons of paths to grow, try new things, and figure out who you want to become. That’s what made me choose Waterloo and what keeps me excited to be here. :)
