Tiffany - Biochemistry

Science Ambassador

Program: Biochemistry

Year:  2

Pronouns:  She/Her

Career goal: Research and Development involving analytical chemistry or food science, as these are my main areas of interest at the moment!

How I get involved: At the University of Waterloo, I enjoy getting involved in the campus community by attending Science club events, where I have met students who share similar interests and made many fun memories throughout the school year. I have also volunteered at Open Houses and Chemistry and Physics Lab Days, where I have had the opportunity to welcome prospective students and show them what makes Waterloo such an exciting place to study. Outside of academics, I am the Production Executive for the UW Cooking Club, which allows me to explore my interests in cooking and content creation!

Why I love Biochemistry

I love my program because Biochemistry allows me to explore a wide range of topics across both chemistry and biology. I especially enjoy learning about microbiology and analytical chemistry and discovering how these fields help us understand and solve practical scientific problems. The laboratory courses are one of my favourite parts of the program because they give me valuable hands-on experience and prepare me to apply these skills confidently in the workplace.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo because of its co-op program and the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience while completing my degree. I first felt connected to Waterloo when I attended Chemistry Lab Day in Grade 12. That experience sparked my curiosity about science and helped me realize that Waterloo was the place where I wanted to explore my interests and grow as a student.
