Program: Honours Science
Year: 4
Pronouns: She/Her
Career goal: A career in health care (medicine or cancer research)
How I get involved: I stay involved on campus through clubs like the Pre-Med Society and the University of Waterloo’s Neuroscience Association (UWNSA), and by volunteering with the Science Open House! I also had the opportunity to become President of the Eritrean and Ethiopian Students' Association, where I've been able to connect with my community, organize events that bring students together, and help create a welcoming space for everyone.
Why I love my program
I love the Honours Science Program as it is super flexible! You get to explore different areas of science instead of being limited to just one, and you can choose courses that match your interests and future goals. It also gives you the chance to take interesting electives, so you can learn about topics outside your main area while still building the courses you need for whatever career you decide to pursue!
Why University of Waterloo?
I chose the University of Waterloo because of its excellent reputation in science and the opportunities to gain research experience throughout my degree. I knew I wanted to be somewhere that encouraged students to get involved both inside and outside the classroom. The supportive community and variety of experiences available made Waterloo feel like the right place for me!
