Mark Lukowski completed his Math degree at Waterloo in 1973 and obtained an MBA from McMaster University in 1975. He went on to lead a very successful career in business working as a senior executive with large companies, including HP, Motorola and Clarke Transport.
In April 2009, Mark was appointed CEO of Christian Children’s Fund of Canada, one of Canada’s largest child-focused international development agencies with a more than 50-year history of helping children and families of all faiths around the world break the cycle of extreme poverty.
While in this role as CEO, Mark has served as co-chair of the CEO Forum of Childfund Alliance – a global network of child development organizations that works with governments around the world to prevent and respond to all forms of violence and exploitation against children. Since joining CCFC, Mark has applied his strong business background to ensure that funding is used efficiently to produce the greatest possible social impact. CCFC, which was named by Financial Post as one of Canada’s top 25 charities, is active in six developing countries and their projects reach over 500,000 children and families each year.
Mark has also had an impact in his own community as a long-time volunteer, youth mentor, and board member. He has been a guest lecturer in the International Development program at St. Paul’s/Waterloo and acts as a resource to the program.
As a student at St. Paul’s in the early 1970s, Mark was part of the original group that started the Blackforest Coffeehouse, which has become a student tradition and symbol of the community life St. Paul’s is known for. He has been back to St. Paul’s on more than one occasion to participate in Blackforest reunion events.
