Health and Safety - Section 3

3. Access to Research Facilities

Access to Chemical Engineering research facilities, including offices and labs, is controlled by individual keys and access codes assigned to each researcher.

Consult with your supervisor to determine which facilities you need access to. Your supervisor will notify the Chemical Engineering main office personnel of your space requirements, and they will initiate the online onboarding. Please refer to the picture below for details.

Onboarding workflow

The main office personnel will issue your keys and access codes once you complete the necessary training and sign the required forms.

Please note:

  • This process is electronic, and you will need a WatIAM account. Please contact Dennis Herman dherman@uwaterloo.ca if you need assistance setting up your account.
  • Office keys are issued after completing General Safety Training Modules (Section 4.1).
  • Lab keys/codes are issued after completing General Safety Training Modules (Section 4.1), Lab Safety Modules (Section 4.2), and submitting a Safety Report (Section 5).
