A team of Waterloo students representing the School of Accounting and Financial, including one student from Computing and Financial Management (CFM), competed Friday, March 6 at the Canadian Regional Finals in the University of North Carolina’s Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) held at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax. The team took top honours, winning the undergraduate division.

For the competition, students sat in on presentations given by three local companies seeking funding. Each student team then conducted due-diligence sessions with each of the companies. They made a Partner Pitch to help support investment in one of the local Venture Capitals.

Five universities from across Canada participated in the competition. The students greatly enjoyed the competitive experience and meeting like-minded students from other Canadian universities.
