Call for Nominations - Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) Gustave O. Arlt Award in the Humanities - Religious Studies - The CGS Gustave O. Arlt Award in the Humanities provides recognition, each year, to a young scholar who has written a book that represents an outstanding contribution to scholarship in the humanities. This year the field of competition is Religious Studies. Nominations are welcomed from interdisciplinary fields, so long as the book draws heavily from the methods and scholarship of the current year's field of competition.
Value:
The Award includes a stipend of $1,000, and reasonable travel expenses to attend the annual meeting Awards Luncheon in San Francisco, CA in early December.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The nominee must have received the doctorate within seven years of the award, and currently be teaching at a North American university.
- The nominee must have completed the doctorate degree at a North American university.
- The book being considered must:
- Have been published within seven years of the award
- (books that are still in manuscript form before April 29 will not be considered)
- Have been written in or translated into English
- Represent an outstanding contribution to scholarship in the field
- Have been published within seven years of the award
