English Faculty - Future Course Preferences

English Faculty - Future Course Preferences (2024-25 & 2025-26)

In order for the Department Chair to plan curriculum offerings and make teaching assignments for the future academic year(s), we kindly ask that faculty use this form to submit a list of the English courses that they would like to teach. Starting with 2024-2025, we are piloting making assignments for two academic years ahead. We are collecting information from this form to make plans for course assignments for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 academic years.

While course assignments are determined by the needs of our different degree plans and specializations, the Chair will try to take faculty preferences into account as much as possible.

Designation
Please indicate what type of faculty you are.

Course Preferences

Please list a minimum of four 100- and 200-level course preferences and a minimum of four 300- and 400-level ones.

If you would like to specifically teach the online (EL, extended learning) version of a particular course, please indicate this by adding EL to the end of the course code (i.e. ENGL 1XX EL). Please see the calendar course descriptions for further detail. Courses that have a CEL version developed will indicate "Also offered Online" in their calendar description.

You may also find it helpful to re-familiarize yourself with the Department’s major and minor plan requirements.

As with previous years, all faculty members are considered as available to teach ENGL 109 if needed.

If you would like to teach a graduate course, please indicate that. Please send your graduate course proposal to the graduate coordinator by November 15, 2023. We cannot guarantee a graduate course for all colleagues who request to teach one.

If you have an interest or willingness to teach the graduate professionalization course, please indicate that.

Course Releases
Do you have or expect any course releases during the 2024-25 and/or 2025-26 academic years?
Please provide any details about your course releases: number of releases, what academic year(s) they impact (2024-25, 2025-26, both), and if you have any preferences on which term(s) you wish to take these releases.
Sabbatical Leave
If you hope to apply for a sabbatical leave in 2024-25 or 2025-26, please indicate below. Although the Faculty of Arts requires only five months’ notice for a sabbatical application, it is very useful for the Department to be able to incorporate your plans at an earlier stage. Please feel free to discuss this with the Chair directly.
If known, please provide details on when you expect you may take your sabbatical during the affected academic year.
TS Non-teaching Term (2024-25)
Currently, English lecturers teach 6 courses per year (12 over two years), and are given the option of having one term off each year, if scheduling allows. Please let us know which term you would like to have off if scheduling allows.
