Getting and Working With An Agent

Thursday, January 22, 2026 11:30 am - 12:40 pm EST (GMT -05:00)

Our inaugural UWaterloo English Creative and Professional Writing Roundtable will be held on Thursday, January 22, from 11:30 a.m. - 12:40 p.m. in PHY 145. The topic is “Getting and Working With An Agent”:

Many presses only accept submissions from agented authors. So how do you get an agent? What does that agent do? And how does having an agent shape your career trajectory? Join novelist Robin Lefler and children’s author Kate Jenks Landry for a discussion.

Panelists

  • Kate Jenks Landry’s picture books include Beatrice and Barb, A Summer Without Anna, and the forthcoming All the Basements on Blackberry Street (all Kids Can Press).
  • Robin Lefler is the author of the novels Not How I Pictured It and Reasonable Adults (both HarperCollins).
