Today the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) released its report ranking every country on its action toward urgent economic, social, and environmental challenges facing our planet — known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, Canada fell from 21^st to 29^th in the rankings.

Thelma Abu was drawn by Waterloo’s reputation for research innovation and the Water Institute being ranked as one of the top research institutions globally.

A team of five Faculty of Environment graduate students that won the Waterloo campus final represented the University at the national stage in the Map the System competition held from May 11 to 13, 2022.

A student of the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED), Terrance Chen, was announced as the inaugural recipient of the $10,000 new Mobility Bursary created by subsidiary New Flyer of America Inc. (“New Flyer”) in partnership with supplier AROW Global Corp (“AROW Global”).

On July 1, Professor Bruce Frayne will begin his tenure as the new dean of the Faculty of Environment for a five-year term. Prior to his appointment, Frayne was a tenured, full professor at the University of Waterloo serving a second term as the Director of the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development in the Faculty of Environment.

On Thursday May 12, 2022, the Faculty of Environment held the first in-person General Assembly in over two years. The assembly received an entertaining annual report presentation from all the departments, attributed to Dean Jean Andrey’s goal for a creative spin on the classic reports.

My name is Charlie Jou-ter Woort (they/them), and I am currently in-between my 3B and 4A term. I am an Environment, Resources, and Sustainability student in the co-op program. I’m lucky to have been matched with jobs that allow me to experience the different paths my degree can take me.
