GI Faculty Members Awarded CFI Grants

Nineteen researchers at the University of Waterloo will receive a total of $1.4 million for infrastructure to support research. The Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) funds will provide researchers with the research infrastructure necessary to lead in their field.  

Among those awarded, Games Institute faculty members will receive a total of $165,000. Director of the GI, Neil Randall, and co-applicant Ashley Rose Kelly will receive CFI funding towards the Waterloo Virtual Reality Storytelling Lab to be housed within The Games Institute in the future.

Lennart Nacke will receive funding for SURGE - The Stratford User Research and Gameful Experiences Lab. 

Jim Wallace will use the CFI grant to support the Interactive Data Exploration and Analysis System (IDEA).
