There’s one constant you can find at local business leaders like Stantec, SAP, and Faire and the fabled halls of Silicon Valley giants Google, Facebook, and Apple: University of Waterloo co-op students.

While developing technical skills is important during a co-op work term, a Japanese software company, founded by University of Waterloo graduates, is looking to give their co-op students a different type of learning experience.

In a small community affected by excessive forest fires, University of Waterloo co-op students are helping establish safer living and clean energy at Avani Bio Energy.

San Francisco-based Splunk, which describes itself as the Data-to-Everything Platform, offers co-op students the opportunity for growth through real-work experience, professional development and work-life balance. 

Students from the University of Waterloo contributed to this ground-breaking project and continue to make profound scientific contributions through co-op work terms at The Centre for Applied Genomics (TGAC).
