As the year draws to a close, we reflect proudly on the accomplishments of the IQC community of researchers, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students for their research excellence, academic achievements and collaborative outreach efforts.

Earlier this month, IQC hosted postdoctoral fellows in quantum information science and technology from around the world at the Quantum Innovators (QI) 2024 workshop.

The Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) is excited to welcome back Luke Schaeffer as Assistant Professor this September, with the Cheriton School of Computer Science as his home department. 

New quantum-nano fabrication and characterization facility lab advances research and enhances community innovation and collaboration. The University of Waterloo has officially opened its state-of-the-art Inert Atmosphere Fabrication Lab (IAFL) as part of the Quantum-Nano Fabrication and Characterization Facility (QNFCF).

Breakthroughs in understanding how gravity affects quantum mechanics could be on the horizon at IQC with the addition of Dr. Bradley Hauer as the newest faculty member and Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
