Hey everyone! My name is Haley Walsh and I am a third-year co-op student studying Speech Communication and Business, with a minor in Public Policy and Administration. When I graduate, I would like to join the public service and pursue a career in government communications.

This term, I have the pleasure of working on the Library Ambassador team. I have relied on many of the services and resources at University of Waterloo Library throughout my undergraduate career, and this position seemed like an amazing opportunity to express my gratitude and help promote student engagement! From my first day, I was welcomed into a positive work environment, supported by other Ambassadors and library staff.

In my first month on the job, I answered questions in the lobbies of Dana Porter and Davis Centre and attended a variety of campus events. These were great opportunities to meet other students and support the university community. One other aspect that I have particularly enjoyed is the term project. To promote student engagement in University of Waterloo residences, my fellow Ambassador, Hinal, and I will be running a contest on October 4 to encourage first year students to visit both Dana Porter and Davis Centre!

I love everything about being a Library Ambassador. This position provides endless opportunities for you to meet students from all faculties, develop professional skills, and learn about the how the Library runs behind-the-scenes. For the remainder of the term, my goal is to further improve my public speaking skills.

Thanks for reading! Best of luck this term and I hope to see you around the library!
