MME Professor Carolyn Ren's Air Microfluidic Systems Has Potential in Agriculture

Tuesday, July 5, 2022

Carolyn Ren, an MME professor, has recently received a grant for her Microfluidics Lab and Air Microfluidic Systems, which was co-founded by her PhD student, Run Ze Gao, and herself.

This grant, from the 2022 Agricultural Enhancement Grants Program, aims to develop a soft robotic gripper that harvests fresh berries in an efficient manner. The harvester will be able to work 24/7 in all-weather conditions with minimal human intervention. The future of further collaboration with the agriculture community has much potential.
