UWRA Spring Banquet (Click to Expand)

The University of Waterloo Retirees’ Association will host a spring banquet on April 24, 2023 at FED Hall at the University of Waterloo. Doors open at 11:30. Lunch is at 12:00. Speaker is at 12:45.

There will be a catered lunch. Preregistration is necessary and will start on March 1, 2023. An email will be sent to all UWRA members on or about March 1, 2023 with registration information.

The speaker is a retired family physician from the Region of Waterloo.

Dr. Ken Shonk graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1970. He had a family medical practice until partially retirement in 2007. He has a special interest in pediatrics and palliative care.

Talk title: Jest for the health of it.

Ken will concentrate on the history, physiology, biochemistry, classification, evolution, concepts and uses of humour in medicine. He will also look at the application and uses of humour in stress management, relationships, parenting and the aging process. Ken practices what he preaches and promises a humorous presentation on the topic of humour and good health.

Tickets are $30 for UWRA paid members and guests and $45 for non members and guests.

Parking is available for $6 in M lot across the ring road from Fed Hall by purchasing a ticket from the pay and display machine. A valid permit must be displayed at all times. Pay & Display permits purchased here are valid only in M-lot. It accepts coin, WatCard, Visa or Mastercard.
