The Women in Finance (WIF): A Journey in Finance Conference was held on Wednesday, February 22 in downtown Toronto. During the conference, we had the opportunity to visit and tour the offices of George Weston Limited, TD Bank (Capital Markets), Inovia Capital and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan. Below we share some excerpts from our networking sessions with the professionals from these firms.
As someone who hails from an Asian country, I am highly intrigued by cross-cultural business practices in the Asia-Pacific region. I have always been fascinated by the similarities in cultures and business etiquette across Asian countries, and I believe that these similarities can be leveraged by companies to expand their operations across different Asian markets.
As a team, we have a wide range of responsibilities, such as creating engaging social media content, planning weekend excursions, diving deep into Vietnamese culture and customs, and — most importantly — taking you along for the ride through entertaining updates on social media!

We are the corporate relations team for the Spring 2023 International Study Trip to Vietnam! Our team is tasked with contacting businesses and companies in Vietnam to set up meetings with them when we visit Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi.

We are the meals and logistics team for the Spring 2023 International Study Course trip. Our team consists of Munrina, Tommy, Julianna, and Simerjot. As part of the meals and logistics team, our objective is to ensure that the trip runs smoothly and safely as we travel across Indonesia.
In early March, School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) students Mahek, Puneet, Daniel and I competed in the final round of the National Investment Banking Conference (NIBC) in Vancouver. I participated in the conference because I believed it would offer a glimpse into what a career in investment banking would be like.
Going to conferences is one of the best ways to keep track of your evolution as a PhD student. The first conference you ever go to will probably be a little (a lot) overwhelming: conferences provide a lot of new experiences.
Participating in a case competition is an incredible opportunity to challenge oneself and learn from talented peers. That's precisely what myself and my colleagues, Pratham, Katherine, and Chloe, experienced when we competed in the ACHIEVE Case Competition in January.
