SPSS is available for use by Biology 361 students via remote application. Here are instructions on how to access the software remotely:
- If you are off campus, you will need to connect to the Campus VPN.
- The VDI software automatically has access to your N drive. Map your N drive to the machine you plan to remote in from and put any necessary assignment files in your Documents folder for easy access.
-
In a browser window, log on to the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure server: https://appweb.uwaterloo.ca/RDweb
-
Enter "nexus\yourWatIAMuserid" and your WatIAM password then click "Sign In."
-
Click on “IBM SPSS Statistics ##”; a .rdp file will download to your computer.
-
**Note: Mac users will need to download a remote desktop application from the App Store before they can open the file. We recommend the latest version of Microsoft Remote Desktop (currently 10.5).**
-
-
Double-click the downloaded .rdp file. This file is a saved remote connection with properties allowing you to connect to the IBM SPSS software.
-
Click "Connect" in the RemoteApp popup window.
-
Enter "nexus\yourWatIAMuserid" and your WatIAM password. Optionally check "Remember me."
-
The software should open automatically on your computer.
-
To access the assignment files from step 2 above, click File > Open, then in the top middle dropdown where it says, "Documents," expand the dropdown and choose your "N: drive." You will then be able to see your assignment files.
