Can’t log in to WatIAM
Forgot WatIAM password
- Go to the WatIAM portal.
- Click "Forgot Password?".
- Enter your WatIAM username and your external recovery email address (not your UWaterloo email address).
- Check your inbox for a password reset email - there will be a link in the body of the email.
- Follow the link in the email and reset your password. Your password will need to meet the following requirements:

Password complexity requirements (e.g., including numbers, uppercase characters, special characters) are being removed in favour of longer passphrases.

Minimum length: 15 characters.

Maximum length: 64 characters.

Other: does not contain the individual’s name or other University of Waterloo identifiers.

Note: After changing your password, it can take a few hours for the new password to sync through through all UWaterloo resources.
Forgot WatIAM userid
- Go to the WatIAM Forgot Username page.
- Enter your external recovery email address (not your UWaterloo email address) and click "Submit".
- You will receive an email with your WatIAM username.
Can’t log in to Nexus
- Try logging in to a different terminal than the one that refused you.
- Refresh or change your WatIAM password using the steps above.
- Once your password is changed, you can try logging in on a Nexus terminal you have not logged in to recently. Sometimes, the Nexus terminal will “remember” the password you entered the last time.
