Medical School Partnerships

The Faculty of Science at the University of Waterloo has signed a number of agreements to further support students who want to continue their education by attending medical and veterinary school. These expanded pathways will provide students with more opportunities to achieve their academic goals and bring them one step closer to their dream careers.

You can find out more about each agreement below. Please refer to their websites for the most up-to-date information on admissions.

GUS Canada Inc. and the GUS Schools of Medicine: Saba University School of Medicine, Medical University of the Americas, and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

In November 2023, the Faculty of Science signed an agreement with GUS Canada Inc. and the GUS Schools of Medicine: Saba University School of Medicine (Saba), Medical University of the Americas (MUA), and St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine (SMU).

This agreement allows Faculty of Science students a more direct path into medical and veterinary school at the GUS Schools of Medicine by moving Science applicants directly to the interview stage (as long as they meet each school’s requirements for admission). Students can also be eligible for a $20,000 USD scholarship upon acceptance and other international scholarship options. To learn more about admission requirements, visit each school’s website: Saba, MUA, and SMU School of Medicine and School of Veterinary Medicine

The Faculty of Science signed and agreement with Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) and the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine (AUC) to fast-track eligible students to the interview phase of the medical school admissions process at both institutions. All successful candidates are eligible to receive the Waterloo Partner Scholarship – a one-time award of $7,500 USD for the first semester of enrollment at AUC or RUSM – along with many other scholarships set up for international students.

All minimum admissions requirements for both RUSM and AUC can be found on their websites, so please check there for the most up-to-date information.
