On April 8th, the Faculty of Science is inviting undergraduate students on an unforgettable trip to view the solar eclipse along Lake Erie. Registration is required and transportation will be provided. Space is limited. Weather dependant.

The Faculty of Science in conjunction with the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics invites science alumni and friends to Hare Winery Co in Niagara-on-the-Lake for a viewing party of the 2024 full solar eclipse.

Astronomers will guide guests through the physics of an eclipse, as well as be on hand to answer questions about the cosmos. Guests will have access to telescopes in the vineyard to further enjoy the beauty of this celestial phenomena.

Join Dr. Avery Broderick on UW campus for an evening discussing black holes, recent images from the Event Horizon Telescope and what exciting research we can expect in the future.

At this month's KPL astronomy talk, Cam Morgan will speak about the CASTOR mission, an ultra-violet telescope that promises to compliment other cutting-edge missions, such as Euclid and the Roman Space Telescope, throughout the 2030s.

Registration has opened for the Ontario Ecology, Ethology, and Evolution Colloquium (OE3C – oe3c.ca) being held at UWaterloo from 02-04 May 2024. This is a great opportunity for Biology students to showcase their research and network with academics across Ontario while staying close to home.
