WCA public lecture: Physics at the End of the Universe

Join the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics for a public lecture (offered in-person and online) as Dr. Katie Mack explores "Physics at the End of the Universe": The Big Bang theory tells the story of the beginning of the Universe, our cosmic home for the last 13.8 billion years. But how does the story end? I’ll share what modern astrophysics tells us about the ultimate fate of the cosmos, and what the catastrophic destruction of all reality would look like to anyone still around to see it.

Healthy Communities Discussion Series: Bench to Bedside

Bench to Bedside is the first health panel lecture of the Healthy Communities Discussion series. Please join us for an evening welcoming UW researchers Travis Craddock, Robin Dunken, Dale Martin and Ben Thompson as they discuss advances in understanding and treatment of neurodegenerative conditions while laying the groundwork for transformative breakthroughs across multiple disciplines.

Speaker: Dr. Andre Issacs

It is becoming increasingly difficult for educators to be effective in the classroom if we continue to decouple students’ lived experiences from their academic learning. This talk will focus on modern strategies that capitalize on the unique learning styles of the younger generation, with special attention to students from historically marginalized groups, to broaden participation in STEM.

Please note: this event is only open to members of the University of Waterloo community. Registration is required.
