WIN Member Seminar Series: Melanie Campbell Group

Event poster with images of all 3 speakers and their talk titles on June 29th at 1 pm on WebEx.
The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology Member Seminar Series is a monthly event that showcases the incredible work by faculty members, students and researchers in the institute. This seminar series will highlight Prof. Melanie Campbell and two of her students - Peter Neathway and Yunyi Qiu. The Campbell optic's lab researches the human eye, optical systems and disease diagnosis.

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) is pleased to present a Distinguished Lecture Series talk by Professor Joseph Heremans, an Ohio Eminent Scholar and distinguished professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the Ohio State University.

A WIN Distinguished Lecture by Professor Joseph Heremans

Quantum Frontiers IQC Distinguished Lecture

From Laser Cooling to Quantum Chemistry

Lasers are used in factories for burning through metal and in movies for blowing up space ships. But in the lab, we use them to cool atoms down to within one billionth of a degree of absolute zero. I'll explain how this works and how we've expanded this ultracold realm to include molecules as well. At these temperatures, we can perfectly control molecules to learn surprising things about chemistry and hopefully build a new platform for quantum computing.

WIN Distinguished Lecture Series: Materials Innovations for Emerging Energy Technologies

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) is pleased to present a Distinguished Lecture Series talk by Professor Liangbing (Bing) Hu, a distinguished professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Maryland.

Photons in Space: the Next Frontier! (Quantum and Space public lecture)

Photons in Space: the Next Frontier! These are the voyages of Canada's first Quantum Satellite Mission - the Quantum EncrYption and Science Satellite (QEYSSat). Its upcoming mission: To explore strange new physics, and enable secure communication across Canada and around the world. To seek out new discoveries and new ways to communicate... To boldly send photons where none have gone before!

Biology Seminar Series: Professor Kirsten Müller

Kirsten Müller with penguins in background
Wintery weather is the perfect backdrop for our final seminar of the semester. Our very own Prof. Kirsten Müller will present about "Reflections on leadership from a distant continent".  Come for the penguins, stay for the wisdom.

Event will be hosted on WebEx.
